I have been traveling a lot teaching the past couple of months. Preparing to travel and teach is very time consuming and exhausting, but so worth it! So that, and getting used to my iMac has been my absence from blogging. Going from my PC to a Mac system has been a slight learning curve. I love my Mac but need some One to One time. My first stop was.
The classes I taught were Mixed Media Fiber Mosaic and Inside Out: Textured Fabric Art. Both classes incorporated lots of techniques (from my book Fabric Art Collage) and students used my model as a guide but created their own art. My students were GREAT!!! We had a full class and it rocked! Honestly, I am always blown away how the students take my ideas and techniques but make the composition their own and create beautiful works of art. So much better than what I come up with!! My camera crashed and I did not get a lot of class photos. So thanks to one of my students (Pam Austin) I have a few good pics from class. Thanks Pam!
Pam's beautiful Fiber Mosaic
I loved Portland. My husband came with me and after I was done teaching, we explored the area. We went to Astoria and then down the coast to Seaside.
I love architecture and Astoria did not disappoint.
Seaside was so beautiful! Any time I can be near the beach I am the most relaxed and at peace.
This carousel was inside a building
Love the colors of these bottles!
Next stop was Houston. More about that soon.

Hey, once you go Mac you never go back :-D Thanks for posting pictures of Oregon. I left a piece of my heart there. Best vacation I ever had was flying to Portland, then driving from Astoria to Southern tip of Oregon in a week, staying in different B&B's and Inns every night. I LOVE the Oregon Beaches, they are so moody and serene at the same time. And not crowded, ha!

Lisa,
We had the best time in Oregon. After the hustle and bustle of teaching it was so calming and relaxing on the coast. It is so different (in a good way) from the gulf coast beaches where we usually go. Thank you for posting about your travels. I love it!

Hi Rebekah,
WOW! I feel so famous! Thank you so much for your kind words and including my pictures on the blog. I do have to disgaree with you on one point though: that the classes come up with better compositions than you - you are so sweet and so humble and so HUGELY TALENTED! Your work is beautiful and inspiring and I feel so lucky that I got to be a student. And you are also such a patient and gracious instructor and I would sit in on another class with you in a heartbeat if the locations are within reach. Looking forward to it in fact!
Happy Holidays,
Pam :)

Any chance that you'll teach on the East coast in 2011?
